The Berchtesgadener Land impresses with breathtaking panoramas and is for me one of the Germany's most beautiful regions<\/a><\/strong> with a wealth of highlights and magnificent nature. We were there for a week and didn't see everything we had planned. But despite the often bad weather, we were able to go on wonderful excursions and hikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With its amazing mountain scenery and eventful history, the Berchtesgadener Land captivates nature lovers as well as travelers interested in culture and history. From the famous Wimbachklamm,<\/strong> and the historical Berchtesgaden Salt Mine<\/strong> to the breathtaking Lake K\u00f6nigssee<\/strong> most destinations are easily accessible and also offer older or less sporty travelers the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easy hikes, such as the one through Zauberwald (literally \"magical forest\")<\/strong> to Lake Hintersee,\u00a0<\/strong>or along the historic brine pipeline route (Soleleitungsweg)<\/strong>the boat trip on Lake K\u00f6nigssee<\/strong> and the Jennerbahn (Jenner cable car)<\/strong> open up the magnificent mountain world. For all those interested in history, Dokumentation Obersalzberg<\/strong> and Kehlsteinhaus,<\/strong> are indispensable stops to learn more about the region's dark past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My highlights for a week in Berchtesgadener Land<\/h4><\/div>

  • Boat tour on Lake K\u00f6nigssee<\/strong> (be sure to get off at Salet terminus!) with a short hike along Lake Obersee and a photo stop in St. Bartholom\u00e4.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Cable car ride to Mount Jenner<\/strong> and a short hike to the viewing platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Mountaineering village Ramsau:<\/strong> Circular hike from the Church of St. Sebastian<\/strong> (famous photo spot) through Zauberwald to Lake Hintersee,\u00a0<\/strong> and back.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Visit to Mount Obersalzberg with a tour of Dokumentation Obersalzberg <\/strong>near Hitler's former Berghof. Afterwards bus ride to Kehlsteinhaus,<\/strong> on Mount Kehlstein (only recommended in good weather!). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • City walk in Berchtesgaden<\/strong> with royal palace, court brewery (Hofbrauhaus), salt mine and pretty town center (traditional paintings - L\u00fcftlmalereien - on the houses!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
