I have moved 15 times in my life - sometimes within the same city. Every place I have lived represents a certain phase of my life and has shaped me in its own way.
Perhaps you too have lived in many different places. Cities where you grew up, where you studied or worked. Each of these places has its own stories and memories that have shaped you and influenced your life.
Write about the places you have lived in and what you associate with them. Maybe you still have photos from back then — show them to us!
Whether you've lived in a small town or a large metropolis, in your home country or abroad - we want to hear your stories! Tell us about the special experiences you've had, the people you've met and the lessons you've learned. Share your unique memories of the places you've called home.
And if you have never moved and have always lived in your hometown, you are also welcome to participate. Write about your hometown and tell us why you stayed there, what you like about it and what makes this place so special to you.
What is a blog parade?
Anyone who is interested and has a blog (even if it is not in German) can contribute to the topic of "The Places I have Lived in" .
You write and publish your blog article on your website and link to this blog article you are reading in your introduction.
What's in it for you? You write a great blog post that your target group will enjoy reading. New readers click on your blog and learn something about you and your offers. And: You can see what others write about it and how they see the topic of this blog parade.
The blog parade is limited in time: You can participate until September 1, 2024.
How to take part in this blog parade:
- You write a blog post about your previous places of residence and your relationship to them. Use the key questions in the next paragraph as a guide or simply write whatever comes to mind.
- If you don't have your own blog, you can also write a detailed comment under this article.
- In your introduction you mention my blog parade "The Places I have Lived in" and link to this article. This way, more people will find out about the blog parade and can take part.
- As soon as you have published your blog post: Comment here under this article with a short text and the link to your own blog post. This is how I and other participants find out about your participation.
- For Instagram, you can use the hashtag #BlogparadePlaces and mention my account @angies.travelroutes .
The blog parade ends on Sunday, September 1, 2024. Until then, you can leave the link to your blog post to my blog parade here in the comments section!
This is how I will share your blog post
- During the blog parade, I will share every blog post submitted in my Instagram Story.
- After the end of the blog parade (after my vacation in September), I will write a summary of all the entries submitted, in which I will link to the websites of all participants - including yours, of course.
- I will share the links to the submitted blog posts in my newsletter after the blog parade.
A blog parade is a great way for us bloggers to support each other and reach new readers. Take advantage of it!
Guiding questions for the blog parade
If you already have ideas, just start writing. Tell us about the cities you have lived in and how they have enriched or changed your life.

- Have you lived in a city that you didn't like at first, but later grew fond of?
- Is there a special event that you associate with a particular city?
- How have the different places you have lived in changed your perspective on life?
- Which city surprised you the most and why?

Last but not least, in view of your wonderful contribution to my blog parade, I can only say! What a great idea to combine your places of residence with a birding ranking. You are not the only participant with whom I have two places of residence in common - Bremen and Stuttgart - which I find amazing (the combination is not the closest). One new insight I gained from the blog parade is that only locals seem to feel at home in Stuttgart. But I'm a bit shocked that Stuttgart scores so poorly for you in the birding ranking. Have you never been to Bärensee? Kingfishers even nest there, and the forests around Stuttgart are home to an incredible number of different bird species. I'm anything but a bird expert, but our father always pointed out the feathered creatures to my sister and me during our many walks in the woods when we were children. I developed a greater interest in birds on safaris in southern Africa: when you don't see any big animals, the guides like to talk about the many magnificent birds that can be seen there. Maybe I can take part in one of your excursions near Cuxhaven when I visit the north again. That would be fun😃.

Hi Angelika, I'm not really a "city kid", I've only ever lived in the countryside and only worked in the big cities. Is that interesting for anyone? Nevertheless, it was very nice to look back on the stages of my life. We have a lot in common - maybe we saw each other in Bremen at some point - who knows - it's been decades.

Thank you so much for your great contribution to my blog parade! I'm delighted that my topic has inspired you and other bloggers to look at their lives from a different perspective. It was also exciting for me to reflect on my past in connection with the places where I live.
It's very interesting that you couldn't make friends with Stuttgart at all. I was born in Stuttgart and feel completely at home here in the region. However, I can understand your feeling, as I felt the same way at the beginning of my 8 years in Bremen and somehow felt out of place. I was also surprised at the time at how big the regional differences are in Germany, including the mentality of the people.
I really envy your time in Cuba - it must have been an incredible experience. I myself traveled to Cuba twice for three weeks and was thrilled. But of course, living there for a while gives you a much more authentic insight.

At first I didn't feel addressed, as I have also lived in small towns or villages - but when reading the other contributions I remembered that I have also lived in places worth mentioning such as Stuttgart Bad-Cannstatt or in Italy close to Vesuvius - maybe that is interesting after all? I lived in Ganderkesee for a few years during the phase I call "my Bremen time" and always enjoyed going to Oldenburg for a stroll. When I thought of Plettenberg, I first thought of Plettenberg Bay in South Africa - I didn't even know there was a place with that name in the Sauerland. One more reason to finally go to the Sauerland. My first trip without parents also took me to London - it was a three-week language trip and an impressive experience at the tender age of 15. It's great that you lived in this fascinating city.

Thank you very much for your great contribution to my blog parade! Your text couldn't be better suited to the topic. Now I feel like I know you much better. I was surprised that you didn't feel so comfortable in Heidelberg. But there's a difference between visiting a city as a tourist and living there permanently. I can imagine that the crowds of tourists can get on your nerves. I finally have to go to Wiesbaden - I've read so many positive and interesting things about it, but I've never been there.
